What exactly is Smart Direct?
Understand flows, triggers and execution blocks in Magic Smart Direct.
Smart Direct turns incoming interactions into a workflow you can design. A flow can combine steps, conditions, waits, media, AI and follow-up instead of sending only a fixed reply.
What you will learn
Understand how a flow starts and when each block runs.
Names in the dashboard
- Flow start (entry settings, not a block)
- Plain text
- Condition / Filter
- Delay
- Magic AI
- Run subflow
Before you start
- Have an active Instagram account.
- Describe your scenario in a simple sentence, such as “When a user writes price, ask for the details and reply appropriately”.
- Decide what a successful outcome means before building.
Steps
1 — Choose a trigger
A trigger is the entry point, such as a comment, direct message or another supported interaction.
2 — Add the first block
A message is a common first block, but a condition or AI block can also decide the path.
3 — Connect the blocks
Every output needs a destination. Connections determine which step follows each result.
4 — Create the branches
Use separate conditions and outputs for different replies so people follow the appropriate path.
5 — Test, then activate
Test the main path and invalid inputs before activating the flow.
Useful tips
- Give each flow one clear goal.
- Name blocks so their purpose is obvious at a glance.
- Use a subflow for repeated work.
Troubleshooting
- If the flow does not start, check its trigger and active status.
- If it stops halfway, inspect the previous block’s outgoing connection.
Example: a price enquiry
For an incoming price enquiry, plan a short reply followed by a clear question about the product. Route a valid answer to the relevant branch and an invalid answer to a help message. Test both cases and inspect that flow's execution report before activating it.
