Where should I use an AI block, and where should I avoid it?
Use AI in a controlled way for analysis, decisions and replies inside a flow.
An AI block helps when a decision is difficult to express with a few fixed rules. Predictable replies and actions are often faster and clearer with ordinary blocks.
What you will learn
Know which tasks to give AI and which to keep deterministic.

Before you start
- Define the AI block’s exact goal.
- Clearly limit the information it may use.
- Provide a fallback for invalid output or service failure.
Steps
1 — Limit the responsibility
Assign a task such as identifying price, training or consultation intent, or writing a short reply from product information.
2 — Provide the necessary input
Supply relevant conversation text and variables; exclude unrelated data.
3 — Define controlled outputs
For routing decisions, use a limited, explicit set of outputs.
4 — Check the result
Validate the result with a condition or other checks and provide a safe fallback for invalid output.
5 — Control cost and interaction count
Set an interaction limit and completion goal for long conversations.
6 — Test difficult examples
Include short, ambiguous, misspelled and off-topic requests.
Useful tips
- AI can make a decision within a flow; it does not replace its entire structure.
- Use a simple block for fixed actions such as a three-second delay.
- Always provide a failure or human-handoff path.
Troubleshooting
- If responses wander, narrow the goal and input information.
- If costs rise, review call frequency and conversation length.
