Route by message type: text, audio, image, video and file
Create separate branches for incoming message types and respond appropriately to each.
Sometimes the format of a message matters as much as its content. A Message Type condition can route text, audio, images, videos and files separately.
What you will learn
Handle multimedia input without mixing the branches.
Names in the dashboard
- Condition / Filter
- Message type: text
- Message type: audio
- Message type: image
- Message type: video
- Message type: file
Before you start
- Decide which message types really require a different path.
- Prepare guidance for unsupported types.
- If AI will analyze media, ensure the relevant capability is enabled.
Steps
1 — Add Condition / Filter
Select Message Type as the condition criterion.
2 — Build the text branch
Route text to text analysis or a normal response.
3 — Separate audio
Route voice messages to the appropriate audio or AI processing path.
4 — Separate image, video and file
Give every supported type a defined destination. Explain clearly when a type is unsupported.
5 — Include a default path
Unknown inputs should reach a safe response.
6 — Test all five input types
Send at least one text, audio, image, video and file example and check each destination.
Useful tips
- Create only the branches you need.
- Detect the type before analyzing its contents.
- A default route prevents users from getting stuck.
Troubleshooting
- If all messages enter one branch, check the Message Type criterion.
- If media arrives but is not processed, check support for that media type.
